Having always enjoyed art and the countryside these interests unite in my paintings, illustrations and mosaic work. I studied Natural History Illustration at Bournemouth College of Art & Design in the 90’s and more recently have taken many short courses with professional mosaic artists.

The natural world remains my main source of inspiration and I try to capture some impression of its spirit and beauty. I work mainly in oil paint enjoying the feel of thick paint under the brush and creating textural artwork. Colour and light play a big part in my work helping to capture some essence of the seasons and ever-changing mood of the landscape.

My home is in Chichester which is on the south coast of England, between the South Downs and the Sea. For inspiration I have the beauty of gentle green downs to the north and Chichester harbour, with its shoreline and sea birds to the south.

My mixed media mosaics are created using glass and ceramic tiles, stained glass pieces, recycled china and found objects. I enjoy beach-combing for useful shells, stones and sea glass. The larger mosaic pieces are often framed whilst smaller pieces can be on wood or slate. I prefer to use recycled materials if possible as I have a strong interest in environmental issues.
